Huon Pine   Lagarostrobos Franklinii

The Huon Pine species only grows in the remote South West of Tasmania and is a prized soft wood with a striking golden yellow colour and fine grain. It is an extremely slow growing and there live trees that have been dated at over 2000 years old. As this timber possesses natural oils that resist rotting and was used for boat building by early English colonisers. Huon Pine cannot be logged, but the timber we acquire is milled by licensed salvagers as it is a protected species.
